Welcome to Ethnographic Studies
The Anthropology department offers a certificate in ethnographic studies for concentrators in other departments.
The Certificate Program in Ethnographic Studies (ETH) is intended for undergraduate students in all divisions (Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Engineering) as a supplement or complement to their department concentration or other certificate studies. It is especially designed for students who wish to integrate study abroad or international or domestic internships into their independent work, but it is open to all.
What is Ethnography?
Ethnography is a research method central to knowing the world from the standpoint of its social arrangements. It is a qualitative research method predicated on the diversity of culture at home (wherever that may be) and abroad. Ethnography involves hands-on, on-the-scene learning -- and it is relevant wherever people are relevant.
